CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A look at local numbers of anti-Semitic incidents tracked by the Anti-Defamation League found a slight uptick in Illinois.
Harassment, vandalism and assaults against Jews increased from 47 incidents in 2017 to 51 last year.
ADL Acting Regional Director Jessica Gall said that's despite a small drop in incidents across the Midwest last year.
But the numbers have more than doubled across the region over three years, leading Gall to wonder if this is the new normal.
Motives for hate incidents isn't always clear but extremists are feeling emboldened, she said.
In Illinois, more of those incidents happened at schools and universities than the national trend.
If you've seen something, the ADL wants to know about it and has tools to help combat anti-Semitism.
