Army Veteran Receives Surprising Warm Welcome From Berwyn Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A military veteran, who said he has PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), found out how welcoming the city of Berwyn is after police made a well-being check at his home recently."As a human being it didn’t seem right to me," according to Berwyn Police Officer Edward Tovar who responded to a call from a veterans’ crisis center of a vet in need of help.That veteran was 66-year-old James Nicoletti, who had recently moved back to Berwyn from Kentucky. He had no food or furniture and used his bathtub to sleep in.

"He was down and out. He needed some help, so the officers, out of the goodness of their heart, began reaching out," said Police Chief Michael Cimaglia.
