CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for a 41-year-old Chicago woman in connection with an alleged swatting incident in the northern suburbs nearly a month ago.
Lake County Sheriff’s Police said Keesha S. Ingram called 9-1-1 to report a man was threatening to shoot his wife in a Gurnee area home in the pre-dawn hours of Dec. 11.
When police showed up to the 17600 block of Dawn Court in Warren Township, there was threat of violence or anything untoward going on, according to Sgt. Chris Covelli.
Police said Ingram and the victim, the man who lives in the house, know each other. Sgt. Covelli said, "she wanted money she believed she was owed to her by the victim and the victim wasn’t providing the payment. So, to get even with the victim, Ingram placed the swatting call at the victim’s home which prompted the major public safety response."
Ingram was a suspect from the start.
"She was the person, based on some text messages the initial responding deputy had seen on the victim’s phone, where she was demanding payment and made threats that she was going to do something to get even if she didn’t get the payment she was looking for," Sgt. Covelli said.
She is now charged in the arrest warrant with one count of "felony disorderly conduct for making a 911 call for the purpose of transmitting a false alarm when she knew that there was no reasonable grounds for making the call," Sgt. Covelli said.
Sgt. Covelli said he does not know the nature of Ingram's relationship with the victim. He said Ingram was last known to have lived on 76th and Prairie in the city of Chicago.
Covelli said she is also wanted on an earlier arrest warrant for failure to appear in court regarding a 2015 phone harassment case.
