AURORA, ILL. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- After coming up with hybrid learning plans, East Aurora School District 131 made a change on Friday, deciding to continue all-remote learning when school starts on August 24.
It will last through the fall with hybrid instruction not beginning until early November. District 131 Supt. Jennifer Norrell pointed to the high number of COVID-19 cases in the area as the reason for the change.
As of Sunday, Aurora has a total of 4,292 coronavirus cases with 114 deaths. Illinois currently has 181,943 total cases with 7,517 deaths.
On Monday night, Jeff Craig, West Aurora School District 129 superintendent, is expected to recommend to the school board that it also goes to all-remote learning for the first quarter.
Irvin said he and his staff have been hitting hard the importance of wearing masks, washing hands thoroughly and social distancing and he thinks residents are getting the message.
