Bears LB Danny Trevathan Suffers Gruesome Elbow Injury

CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan suffered what appeared to be a gruesome injury to his left elbow during the first quarter of his team's 20-13 win against the Lions on Sunday afternoon.

The status of the 29-year-old Trevathan wasn't immediately known after the game. He was seen leaving the locker room with his left arm in a sling and will undergo an MRI on Monday, he told NFL Network reporter Stacey Dales.

"I've been through worse things," Trevathan told Dales.

Trevathan was injured while hitting Lions quarterback Jeff Driskel on a pass with 4:16 remaining in the first quarter. His left arm bent in reverse as he landed awkwardly. Trevathan immediately ran off the field to the Bears' sideline. He was evaluated in the team's medical tent before leaving to the locker room.

"It's definitely hard," Bears running back Tarik Cohen said of losing Trevathan. "D.T. is the best leader on the team. He's very vocal. You can just feel his energy, whether it's on the field or off the field."

Trevathan had three tackles Sunday at the time of his injury, which brought his total to 51 over nine games this season. He's playing the final season of a four-year contract with the Bears.

Without Trevathan, the Bears moved Nick Kwiatkoski into the void at inside linebacker. Trevathan finished the game with nine tackles, a sack and an interception.

"We all know Kwit could be a starter on any team in this league," Bears cornerback Prince Amukamara said of Kwiatkoski. "He's like our hidden gem.

"Whenever his number is called, he's always ready."

Bears coach Matt Nagy will address the media at Halas Hall on Monday, at which point more details to Trevathan's status could be known.
