CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Penalty!
Chicago Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky agrees he may have committed an infraction three or four years ago, which was the last time he had a hot dog. His choice of topping then: ketchup.
In Chicago, of course, that is not looked upon favorably. “Chicago style” is anchored by mustard. The only tomato product is actual tomato slices, in addition to a variety of other toppings (the other items, if the dog is "dragged through the garden": chopped white onions, flourescent green pickle relish, a dill pickle spear, pickled sport peppers and celery salt).
“I’ve got to have the Chicago-style, I’ve got to get out and try it, so everyone’s not mad at me,” a smiling Trubisky told WBBM Newsradio’s Kevin Jackman as the QB made a promotional appearance this weekend. “I can only be honest: The last time I had a hot dog was only ketchup, and that’s how I ate them growing up.
“There could be worse things," he said.
