(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An Aurora woman and her family can finally enjoy their back yard, without the neighbors buzzing around.
It was May 2 when Megan Shern noticed the bees.
"We just saw a big swarm of bugs that kind of took over our entire yard,” she told WBBM Newsradio’s Steve Miller.
The bees were coming from the house next door. But the problem was, the woman who lived there had died and nobody was around.
So she asked social media: How do you get rid of thousands of bees? And she got suggestions, including some crazy ones.
Some good tips led her to a beekeeper. And the woman's son got in touch with her, too.
"Originally they thought they could take a couple of sides of the housing out and take the bees out from the outside. And they came to realize that they had to grab the bees from the inside.”
Now, though, she has her back yard back.
