CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Yesterday — the memorabilia shop in Wrigleyville — is closed, and the building is being sold next month to make way for a three-flat.

Social media isn’t wild about the pending demolition, WBBM Newsradio’s Steve Miller reports.

Chicago Party Aunt — a cult star of Twitter who is Chicago through-and-through —- has weighed in on the news that Yesterday is gone and will be replaced by a three-flat.

She calls it “a bunch of bull—.”  We’ll leave it at that.

Tom Boyle, the owner, died in December. His great nephew is Max Zelenka.

“It’s sad. It’s sad to see the store go, especially to see another thing of Wrigleyville lose some of its character.

“We even have somebody buying the actual signage, so that’s going to live on,” he said Thursday.

He says he understands those who are upset with the closing of the store and the sale.

“But the energy and the money needed to keep the store running was just not available. Because at the end of the day, the store was in very bad condition, so there was not a lot of future in the building.”
