CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot is assuring a renowned government watchdog group that they are all pulling in the same direction.Lightfoot gave brief remarks at the annual Better Government Association luncheon downtown. She does a lot of that kind of thing, but this was different. As BGA President and CEO David Greising pointed out, Lightfoot was a board member.
The mayor earned applause as she touted her attempts to reform City Hall. Lightfoot’s initiatives include trying to end aldermanic prerogative and changing the workers’ compensation system.Lightfoot said she and the BGA may have different roles now, but they share the same mission: ending corruption.Greising said the BGA will monitor the mayor without fear -- or favor.
