CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A precautionary boil order is in effect for the Forest Lake and Hawthorn Woods water systems in north suburban Lake County.
The water distributor's alarm and control system for this area (Aqua Illinois) went down for a short time at its water station, causing water pressure to fall below 20 psi. Because of this, Lake County Public Works has issued a precautionary boil order for these areas.
Customers in the impacted area should bring water to a boil for three to five minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
The precautionary boil order will remain in effect until at least Wednesday, April 29, as laboratory sampling confirms that water quality has been fully restored.
Those with any questions or concerns may call Lake County Public Works at 847-377-7500 or send an email to publicworks@lakecountyil.gov.
