CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago cab driver who was involved in an altercation with a passenger after being caught on cellphone video watching TV, while driving on an expressway is now facing criminal charges.
Last week WBBM Newsradio reported a story about a woman, who in her words calls "the ride from hell." She was riding in a Blue Cab when her driver started watching Netflix and when the woman, Tara Heine, asked the driver to stop things escalated.
"I asked you to put phone down while I am in your car," Heine said.
Heine started recording from the back seat and when the driver noticed, she swung at Heine, she told CBS 2.
"Get that f****** camera out of my damn face," the driver can be heard on the recording. "Have you lost your damn mind?"
Heine can then be heard saying, "you just swung at me, really?"
Driver: "No I didn't swing at you."
Heine: "Oh I am calling the police now for sure."
Driver: "Get out. While you call the police, get out."
Heine: "No, I am waiting for the police to come. You are not leaving me here."
Driver: "That's all you got to do is report me. That's it. That's all I asked you to do."
The driver, Jeanette Wright, 50, is now charged with aggravated assault and using an electronic device while driving. She has been fired from her job driving for Blue Cab.
The cab company told CBS 2 that the dispute started because the two women were arguing about what show to watch, which Heine said was ridiculous.
