CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man who went into cardiac arrest at Midway Airport on year ago got a chance to thank several people who helped save his life.
On June 23, 2018, Hutz Hertzberg collapsed near a restroom at the airport. Micaela Yarbrough, 11, knew to get help.
"I knew to do the right thing is to get somebody and help instead of just standing there and walking away like everyone else was,” she recalled Sunday.
Hertzberg’s heart had stopped.
Yarbrough’s father and three other Good Samaritans worked together to administer CPR and revive Hertzberg. Doctors stress the importance of acting fast because the brain can be damaged within minutes without oxygen, and chances for survival quickly diminish.

June 23, 2019 Loyola Medicine held a reunion so that Hertzberg could meet with the Good Samaritans, who hail from different states.
