CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As the month draws to a close, Catholic Charities' Head Start child development programs are ending for good.
WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
It was about a month ago when Catholic Charities announced it was ending its three remaining Head Start programs.
Some of the parents picking up their children at St. Joseph Church in Back of the Yards on Tuesday said they were still trying to figure out what to do.
Brenda Hernandez has one daughter in Head Start and three other children in day care.
"Honestly, it's really hard for us because they only gave us a moment. I don't even have a school for my daughter. I don't know if she's going to stay home. I'm going to have to stop working, and it's really hard right now."
Parent Ana Lopez has a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old in the Head Start program.
"I'm more sad than angry. I've been knowing most of the teachers for more than ten years. So, it is sad."
Catholic Charities has said it's had "funding challenges."
