CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago's Chance the Rapper, who backed an unsuccessful mayoral candidate in the Feb. 26 election, announced on Twitter that he'll hold a news conference at City Hall Thursday.

The musician said his appearance will have something to do with the mayoral contest.

Chance the Rapper's candidate, Amara Enyia, did not show strongly in a crowded field of 14 candidates, even after he put money into her campaign. The top two vote-getters, Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle, advanced to the April 2 runoff.

The musician's real name is Chancelor Jonathan Bennett.
