PARK RIDGE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A relatively new north suburban restaurant is bringing a smile to people’s faces when they pick up their carryout orders, at least for the time being.

Pennyville Station opened in Park Ridge last May. Owner Tony Antonacci is offering a family-style dinner package for just under $10 per person. It comes with chicken and pasta dishes, vegetable, mac-n-cheese, dessert -- and one roll of toilet paper.

“Until we run out," Antonacci said.

The restaurant received a paper shipment last Friday and by Monday was dealing with a new reality: no more dine-in customers for a while.

“We were sitting on a thousand rolls of toilet paper, and you saw this crazy stuff going on in the stores and on the news. And we decided to hand it out,” Antonacci said.

There were about 400 rolls left Friday.

Antonacci said some people are giving the toilet paper back, saying it should be given to people who need it.

He says he’s confident that regular business will come back as soon as the COVID-19 threat is over.
