Family and friends of a 43-year-old Chicago Police officer are in mourning, following the officer's death over the weekend while he was vacationing with his family in France.
He was a Brazilian jiu-jitsu teacher, and had a jiu-jitsu academy in Bucktown.
Vianna had many devoted students.
"You didn't hear him congratulate many people, but when he did, he meant it," says Rafael Leyva, who began studying jiu-jitsu under Vianna in 2012.
"On Monday, a lot of us got together. You saw a bunch of people who can literally do harm on a person because we're trained in that specific art like that to defend ourselves," he said.
"(We) cried like babies. Because he impacted so many lives."
Pedro Vianna had been a Chicago Police officer for six years.
