CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One Chicago Police Department officer saved the life of her sister, also a CPD officer, by donating one of her kidneys.

Officer Joanne Lukasik Millan had a genetic kidney condition, and doctors worried she wouldn't get a traditional transplant in time to save her life.

That's when Officer Margaret Coleman offered to donate one of her kidneys to her sister.

Coleman called the decision to help her little sister a "no brainer."

The kidney was transplanted in late May and their doctor says both sisters are doing very well.
