Cole Kmet: It'd Be 'Really Cool' To Get Drafted By Bears

(670 The Score) Notre Dame tight end Cole Kmet is projected by many analysts to be selected in the second round of the NFL Draft. The Bears are in need of a long-term solution at tight end, and they also own a pair of picks in the second round.

So could a potential union between Kmet -- a local product from St. Viator -- and the Bears be on the horizon? If so, that'd make him happy.

"My dad played for the Bears at the end of his career for a little bit," Kmet said in reference to his father, Frank. "Growing up in Chicago, I grew up a Bears fan. Obviously, they're kind of in that range where I could get picked there. That'd be a really cool experience.

"It'd be a huge deal. Being able to stick around home and be here and be able to have my family so close for the home games, it'd be an awesome experience."

The 6-foot-6, 262-pound Kmet declared for the NFL Draft after a junior season in which he had 43 catches and six touchdowns in 10 games. He's considered the best tight end prospect in the class by most draft analysts.

With in-person workouts called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, Kmet has been staying in shape by using a weight set at his grandmother's house and by running routes at a nearby field.

"All this with what's going on, it's still not going to take away from the fact that being picked is going to be one of the best moments that I'll have in my life to this point," Kmet said.

"This was always just a dream of mine."
