(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Will County community garden program is celebrating the fact that it is growing.On Saturday, there will be a dedication of the expansion of the community garden at the All Nations Church of God and Christ in Joliet.

We WILL Grow School and Community Garden Program, says it’s part of the 24th community garden that produces fresh fruits and vegetables in food deserts. People love it, she said.
"It proves that people want fresh fruits and vegetables. Oftentimes when a grocery store leaves, they’re saying there’s no demand."The congregation and young people who are part of the church’s summer program work the soil and grow the produce, Pecora said.“It opens their world and then they want it."Pecora says tomatoes, peppers, greens and more grown in the community gardens are given to local food pantries.
