  • Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker on Monday urged people, including members of a defiant church congregation, to refrain from gathering in large numbers during his stay-at-home order, but stopped short of endorsing police citations or arrests in most cases. MORE DETAILS HERE.
  • NEW NUMBERS: The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,341 new cases and 46 deaths. That takes the state's overall known total to 63,840 cases, including 2,662 deaths. READ MORE HERE.
  • The medical examiner's office Monday confirmed 97 more COVID-19 deaths in Cook County. The newly confirmed fatalities bring the county's toll to 1,913. MORE DETAILS HERE.
  • Chicago police announced Monday 22 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the number of cases in the department to 463. Of the confirmed cases, 442 are officers and 21 are civilian employees. DETAILS HERE.
  • Wearable" tech could be one of the next steps in the fight against the coronavirus. Researchers at Northwestern University and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago have developed a novel wearable device and are creating a set of data algorithms specifically tailored to catch early signs and symptoms associated with COVID-19 and to monitor patients as the illness progresses. READ MORE HERE.
  • Chicago Public Schools announced Monday partnerships with several Chicago TV stations to provide supplemental educational programming to increase the accessibility of enrichment resources for students. Through these partnerships, digital content from CPS' Curriculum Equity Initiative content library in subjects such as math, science, and language arts will air on several station "sub-channels" (available on digital TVs), including WLS, Univision/UniMás, and WCIU. Additionally, Chicago's local PBS affiliate WTTW – which is nationally known for its educational programming – has reorganized its digital subchannel to focus on educational content geared toward students in middle grades. MORE DETAILS HERE.
