CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aidan Bertocchini was 6-years old when his aunt mentioned volunteering at the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry - now called "Beyond Hunger."

"The food pantry cannot buy diapers and other toiletries at a discounted rate, so they don't buy them at all. They completely rely on donations in order to provide those services," Bertocchini said.Bertocchini, who is 15 now, said even at 6 he knew that didn't seem right.

"So, I emptied out my piggy bank and went to CVS and bought diapers," Bertocchini said.

The family then got involved and used the money that Aidan collected to buy diapers for babies. They bought them from a local wholesaler and loaded up a pick-up truck to deliver them to the food pantry.

It started with diapers just for babies, but then it expanded to diapers for adults too.
