CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- When Halloween is over, you do not have to toss your rotting pumpkins in the garbage. In fact, there are people who suggest you recycle them.Saturday is the 6th annual Pumpkin Smash which started in the Chicago area and is starting to spread around the country. According to Kay McKeen, founder of SCARCE, School and Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education, "We started with three towns...Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, and Elmhurst."Now, there are 47 Pumpkin Smash locations across the state, most of them in Chicago suburbs.
