CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Former mayoral candidate Dorothy Brown has endorsed Amara Enyia to be the City's next Mayor.

Brown, who was recently ruled ineligible to be on the ballot, said talking to Enyia at mayoral forums helped convince her the former city official, who holds a doctorate in education policy, deserves her support.

“We can either have a mayor that continues business as usual or we can have a mayor that’s for the people,” Brown said at a Thursday news conference.

Enyia said she and Brown share a concern for people left outside of the political process.

“I’m a practitioner of public policy with the lens of a grass-roots organizer,” she said.

In a mayoral race this crowded and close, shifting even the 5 percent of support a recent poll showed for Brown while she was in the race could make a difference.”

Enyia has already enjoyed the endorsement of Chicago’s Chance the Rapper, who has helped her campaign financially.
