(670 The Score) In going 12-4 in the 2018 regular season, the Bears led the NFL with 36 takeaways. It was the trademark of their resurgence on defense.
Through two games of this new season, the Bears have just one takeaway: Kyle Fuller's fourth-quarter interception during a 16-14 win over the Broncos in Denver on Sunday. While Chicago pulled through with a victory, the lack of takeaways is an issue the players on defense know they must fix.
And it's something that's on their minds constantly, safety Eddie Jackson said.
"They're coming," Jackson said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning. "They'll be coming. That's huge for us. For us to only have one takeaway in two games, that's kind of a bad thing. We always want to average three or more turnovers a game.
"We really have to start emphasizing on that more, even though we emphasize it enough. I feel like we could still do more to go out there and put that in the back of our minds, 'Man, we need to get this ball.'
"For us, we always want to create three or more turnovers."
Jackson was second on the Bears with six interceptions in 2018. He also forced two fumbles and had a pair of defensive touchdowns.
The Bears (1-1) will get their next chance to force turnovers when they face the Redskins (0-2) in Washington next Monday.
