All Lanes On Eisenhower Expressway Reopen After Shooting Causes Closures

A shooting Monday on the Eisenhower Expressway caused westbound lane closures on the Near West Side.

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Westbound lanes of the Eisenhower Expressway were reopened Monday morning after a shooting closed down lanes for more than four hours.

According to Illinois State Police, a man was shot around 2 a.m. in the outbound lanes of I-290 near Leavitt Street. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was stabilized.

Investigators found multiple shell casings near the scene of the shooting and closed down all lanes between Damen and Western avenues at 4:10 a.m. for an investigation, state police said.

Illinois State Police said the closures were expected to last several hours. All lanes reopened around 8:30 a.m., after being closed for more than four hours.
