ELGIN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Bar glasses that move on their own. Noises that come from nowhere. The owner of an Elgin bar says she and her employees have experienced that and more. So who-you-gonna call?  You guessed it.

Daren Marks, the owner of Aurora's Illinois Paranormal Investigators has been asked if he's a ghostbuster. He's been asked many times if what he does is real.

"I just kind of brush it off, bcause we get (the) skeptics, non-believers," Marks said.

But Marks said this is what he does. And now he is looking into possible paranormal — ghost — activity at Smitty's Olde Towne Inn in Elgin.

"Two weeks ago, one of my cooks opened the walk-in fridge and he (took) that very clear image: You can see a face and everything — sitting on one of the kegs," said Patsy Maple, the owner of the Olde Towne Inn.

She then asked Marks and his team to come in.

"The only time I actually went, 'This isn't right,' is when I heard my name as clear as day. And I thought it was my cook. And there was nobody there," she said.

Maple suspects the ghost is of the original owner of the 92-year-old tavern: Smitty, also known as William Schmitz.
