(670 The Score) At long last, we've reached the final week of the preseason. Come next Sunday, the Bears will be holding their first practice of a regular-season game week at Halas Hall and have their 53-man roster set after the waiver wires are done moving.
This week will offer many players their final chance to make an impression on the Bears' front office and coaching staff. But by this point in the preseason, most roster decisions have already been made. Cuts are due by Saturday at 3 p.m.
Here's a look at how the Bears' initial 53-man roster could look come this weekend:
Quarterbacks
Mitchell Trubisky, 25
Now in his third NFL season and second year in coach Matt Nagy's system, Trubisky is carrying the weight of great expectations for the Bears.
Chase Daniel, 32
Daniel has been a consummate professional during his career as a backup quarterback. He's entering his 11th NFL season.
Practice squad: Tyler Bray, 27
Running backs
David Montgomery, 22
A third-round pick out of Iowa State, Montgomery has positioned himself this preseason to be the Bears' leading rusher in 2019.
Tarik Cohen, 24
Nagy conceded last week that Cohen was burnt out by the end of 2018. Strong depth at running back can ease that concern.
Mike Davis, 26
The Bears appreciate the steady presence of the veteran Davis, who can ease the workload of Montgomery and Cohen.
Ryan Nall, 23
The Bears won't carry a true fullback this season, so Nall could handle that role plus more as an H-back in Nagy's offense.
Practice squad: Kerrith Whyte Jr., 22
Receiver
Allen Robinson, 26
Robinson is coming off an offseason of full health and could enjoy a breakout second year in this offense.
Anthony Miller, 24
After leading all rookies with seven receiving touchdowns last season, Miller may be primed for even more production -- especially now that his shoulder has been surgically repaired.
Taylor Gabriel, 28
Gabriel proved to be an important target for the Bears in 2018, with his 67 receptions nearly doubling his previous career-high.
Cordarrelle Patterson, 28
It will be interesting to see how Nagy incorporates the versatile Patterson into his offense.
Javon Wims, 24
There has been plenty of talk around Halas Hall about the quality offseason that Wims put together.
Riley Ridley, 23
The rookie Ridley has plenty of development ahead, but his potential is intriguing.
Practice squad: Thomas Ives, 23
Tight end
Trey Burton, 27
Burton has a productive 2018, posting 54 receptions for 569 yards and six touchdowns.
Adam Shaheen, 24
Is this the breakout season for the 2017 second-round pick Shaheen? Health remains the greatest issue that he has faced.
Ben Braunecker, 25
A key special teams player in his first three seasons, Braunecker could see an increased role in the offense.
Bradley Sowell, 30
The Bears have commended Sowell for his work in transitioning from tackle to tight end. He has certainly looked like a lineman in his blocking assignments.
Practice squad: Jesper Horsted, 22
Offensive line
Charles Leno Jr., 27
The consistency of Leno shouldn't be taken for granted. A 2014 seventh-round pick, he has started 61 straight games at left tackle.
Cody Whitehair, 27
The Bears believe moving Whitehair to left guard is in their best interest -- and it only increases his market value.
James Daniels, 21
A second-round pick by the Bears in 2018, Daniels now moves over to his more natural position of center.
Kyle Long, 30
A member of the Bears organization since 2013, Long has endured a lot during that tenure with the team, including numerous injury woes.
Bobby Massie, 30
It was quite the offseason for Massie, who landed a long-term deal with the Bears and also got married.
Rashaad Coward, 24
The Bears have been pleased with how the converted defensive lineman has adjusted to tackle.
Ted Larsen, 32
The 10-year veteran Larsen will be the Bears' first reserve at both guard positions and center.
Alex Bars, 23
The rookie Bars may have been a mid-round draft pick if not for a torn ACL suffered last September while at Notre Dame.
Practice squad: Sam Mustipher, 23; Tommy Doles, 23
Defensive line
Akiem Hicks, 29
After several Pro Bowl snubs, Hicks was finally honored last season as one of the best defensive linemen in football.
Eddie Goldman, 25
It's easy to forget the importance of Goldman in this defense, but the fifth-year nose tackle is cherished by his teammates.
Bilal Nichols, 22
A fifth-round pick of the Bears in 2018, Nichols is trending in the right direction with his play and production.
Roy Robertson-Harris, 26
Once signed as an undrafted free agent outside linebacker, Robertson-Harris has become a key piece to the Bears' defensive line.
Jonathan Bullard, 25
Bullard may have found himself as a roster cut if there was greater competition behind him on the depth chart, but there's not.
Nick Williams, 29
Williams has been in the NFL since 2014 and played in two games as a reserve defensive end in 2018.
Practice squad: Jonathan Harris, 23
Outside linebacker
Khalil Mack, 28
Mack had another All-Pro season in 2018 after the Bears acquired him from the Raiders just a week before the regular season began.
Leonard Floyd, 26
It's an important season for Floyd, who's looking to earn a long-term deal with the Bears. He has 15.5 sacks in 38 career games.
Aaron Lynch, 26
Lynch had put together a strong first season with the Bears before suffering an elbow injury late in 2018.
Isaiah Irving, 25
The Bears have been impressed with Irving, who was brought in as an undrafted rookie in 2017. He has played parts of 20 games.
James Vaughters, 26
A Chicago native and Stanford product, Vaughters has impressed this preseason. My hunch is it's enough for him to land on the 53-man roster.
Practice squad: Kylie Fitts, 24
Inside linebacker
Danny Trevathan, 29
Trevathan is looking for a second consecutive 16-game regular season, something he hasn't done since his first two years in the NFL in 2012 and 2013.
Roquan Smith, 22
As a rookie, Smith fit right in with the Bears' defense. They expect more growth in his encore.
Nick Kwiatkoski, 26
Kwiatkoski has provided depth and a special teams presence since being drafted in 2016.
Joel Iyiegbuniwe, 23
The man better known as "Iggy" played 16 games as a rookie last season, working primarily on special teams.
Kevin Pierre-Louis, 27
There's a case to be made for Josh Woods winning the last spot at inside linebacker, but he's practice squad-eligible and Pierre-Louis isn't.
Practice squad: Josh Woods, 23
Cornerback
Kyle Fuller, 27
After years of wondering what potential Fuller had in store, he broke out with an All-Pro campaign in 2018.
Prince Amukamara, 30
This marks the ninth NFL season for the steady Amukamara and his third year as part of the Bears defense.
Buster Skrine, 30
The new nickel cornerback, Skrine is hoping to be part of a playoff team for the first time in his career, which is now entering a ninth year.
Kevin Toliver II, 23
Toliver started one game at cornerback in place of Amukamara last season. He'll serve as depth once again.
Duke Shelley, 22
A rookie out of Kansas State, Shelley has intriguing upside.
Practice squad: Stephen Denmark
Safety
Eddie Jackson, 25
During an All-Pro campaign in 2018, Jackson established himself as one of the game's premier safeties.
Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, 26
Once a Pro Bowl performer, Clinton-Dix is looking to make an impact during his first season with the Bears.
Deon Bush, 26
Bush is entering a contract year as the Bears' backup at safety.
Sherrick McManis, 31
The longest-tenured player on the Bears, McManis has played under Lovie Smith, Marc Trestman, John Fox and now Nagy.
DeAndre Houston-Carson, 26
Houston-Carson has been a special teams player over three seasons and 32 games.
Special teams
K: Eddy Pineiro, 23
There will be outside options available for the Bears when rosters are cut down, but Pineiro seems to have earned his place as the team's kicker.
P: Pat O'Donnell, 28
For all the turnover on special teams, O'Donnell is entering his sixth season as the Bears' punter.
LS: Patrick Scales, 31
Scales has played 37 games over four years as the Bears' long snapper.
