(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- You might have driven near I-88 and Winfield Road and seen the COVID-19 testing site that’s been set up there for three weeks and wondered why it looks like nothing’s going on.
A listener sent WBBM Newsradio photos of the testing site in Warrenville, at Edward-Elmhurst Health Corporate Center. And indeed, the pictures show not much going on.
Michelle Vermeland, a respiratory therapist and the site supervisor, said that’s not really the case.
Three weeks ago, they started by testing only 25 people a day. Now, they’ve just gotten permission to test up to 150 people a day.
“At 150 people, I probably don’t have a lot of people standing around doing just nothing. The lot itself is so large that it’s not going to look real full,” she said.
Edward-Elmhurst Health officials say most people show up when the site opens at 9 a.m.
To be tested there, you have to have an order from an Edward-Elmhurst doctor and an appointment.
