NAPERVILLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Exchange Club of Naperville is hosting its first-ever "Around Naperville" Car Scavenger Hunt that will raise funds for charity.

On Aug. 22, families can explore the Naperville area from the comfort of their car and earn points by answering clues, taking selfies or collecting tokens at a few of the stops along the way.

"This way people can do something fun while supporting charities, they can also stay socially distanced," said Susan Stompanato, a board member of the Exchange Club of Naperville. "You can participate simply by driving around Naperville."

All funds raised from the event will benefit child abuse prevention programs, which typically relied on donations from Ribfest.

"Even though we weren't able to have Ribfest because of the pandemic, we still need to find ways to raise money to give to these charities that look to us to supplement their budget," said Stompanato. "So, we're still here, we're still supporting the charities and we still want to be able to financially help them as well."

The scavenger hunt starts and ends at the Up North Ale House on North Aurora Road.

Registration is $25 per car before Aug. 19 and $30 the day of the event. You can buy tickets here

Prizes will be awarded for first place with the most clues solved, best-decorated car and the organization or group with the most attendees.
