(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An Illinois State Police Trooper killed in March when his SUV was hit by a wrong-way driver had his name added Wednesday to a memorial wall in Springfield.
Trooper Gerald Ellis and civilian motorist Dan Davies from Calumet City both died. Police say Davies’ vehicle was going the wrong way on the Tri-State Tollway near Route 176 in Green Oaks March 30.
Investigators say may have prevented Davies’ vehicle from hitting others.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker noted Ellis' 11 years of service with the Illinois State Police, as well as his service in the U.S. Army.
Investigators say Davies was drunk at the time of the crash and hadn’t had a driver’s license since 1996.
