CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The parents of a boy wounded during the police shooting of a bank robbery suspect on the Northwest Side last week said they want answers from police about what happened.

Rylan Wilder, 15, was shot in the abdomen and arm as police were firing at bank robbery suspect Christopher Willis, who had been chased from Des Plaines in a stolen car.

The budding guitarist had been at a music store where he interned.

The family said it is suing the surviving alleged bank robber, Maurice Murphy, as a way to get any police agency involved to preserve all video and other evidence. Lawyer Tim Cavanagh expects to be before Cook County Judge Daniel Gillespie on Tuesday morning asking that he order the evidence to be preserved.

Cavanagh said the family wants all “dashcam and the body cams from all the police at the scene,” plus all audio communications from investigating police departments, as well as surveillance video from Upbeat Music where the teen interns.

“We know this was a suburban police deprtment that pursued Willis down the Kennedy Expressway at speeds of up to 90-100 mph and the reason we want all this is because the family has questions," Cavanagh said.

Lucia Morales said her family wants their questions answered.

The boy’s father, Tom Wilder, works for himself as a realtor while the boy’s mother is a suburban elementary school teacher.

Rylan Wilder is a student at Lane Tech College Prep. His mother said he is worried about missing so much work, especially since he takes honors and AP classes and has been in the middle of taking driver’s ed.
