CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Nearly two weeks after a Pilsen barista was fatally stabbed outside a River West bar, relatives returned Tuesday night to demand justice.
Wearing t-shirts with his picture on them, friends and relatives of Kenny Paterimos chanted "let us in" while standing outside Richard's Bar on Milwaukee and Grand.
Staffers locked the doors and called police on the protesters, but officers responding did not arrest anyone.
His sister, Dina Paterimos told CBS 2 the bar bears some of the blame for his death.
"The man messed with my brother, gave homophobic slurs, and all they did was throw him out – and they allowed him to wait outside for my brother, to stab him," she said.
As for the suspect in the Feb. 21 stabbing, the 30-year-old man was originally arrested, but then released after claiming self defense.
His mother, Diona Bueno tells CBS 2 she doesn't beleive the suspect who claims self-defence.
"What self-defense? (Expletive)!" said Paterimos' mother, Diona Bueno. "You killed him! You meant to! You meant to kill somebody that night! It just so happened to be him!"
Chicago police have taken the unusal step and reissued a warrant for him.
