(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Rogers Park is the backdrop for filming this week for the FX series "Fargo," now in its second week of production in the city and suburbs.
It’s the first major production to resume filming in Chicago since the pandemic.
The film industry brought $500 million into Chicago last year. But this year, in March, the cameras stopped.
Last week, they started rolling again in the city when filming on "Fargo" resumed.
It creates a kind of bubble system, Amoaku said.
“How strict they are will set an example for other productions, and hopefully can create opportunities for more filming in the city,” the office of 49th Ward Ald. Maria Hadden said.
Amoaku says “Chicago PD,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicago Med” are expected to resume filming next.
The latest installment of "Fargo" -- a crime series inspired by the 1996 Oscar-winning film -- reportedly is a period saga headlined by actor-comedian Chris Rock.
