CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Supply chain and social distancing have been challenging for some companies, but one floral delivery company believes it will still be a good Mother's Day.
Florists and delivery companies are getting ready for Mother's Day, and the new CEO of FTD in Downers Grove Charlie Cole said while they've had supply chain and social distancing challenges, they had fantastic Easter sales and believe that that will be the case come Mother's Day.
Cole said FTD's Easter sales were up about 30-40 percent year-over-year, and he said it makes sense when you're so restricted in contact with someone. Flowers becomes a great way to communicate with a loved one.
"Overall Easter is a much smaller holiday than Mother's Day for us...but for what it is worth, we have seen that demand continue, even leading up to end day, even today, we are seeing pretty great results," Cole said.
He said getting orders in early will make all the difference in getting flowers and gifts to mom on time. He said especially now when delivery services have been so busy.
"Not only is it good to order early from a supply chain prospective, it is also good to order early to make sure you get things to your mom in time," Cole said.
Mother's Day is May 10th.
