CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A west suburban mayor is approaching the end of his long run in office.

Anthony Calderone was born and raised in Forest Park and has been mayor since 1999, but has chosen not to run for reelection.

He told WBBM that he "simply thinks that it's time to move on to another chapter," although he knows the job of mayor is "never complete."

Mayor Calderone said that despite his efforts some people still don't know, exactly, where Forest Park is, noting that it's often confused with far southwest suburban Park Forest or as that place "near Oak Park."

Forest Park voters will elect Calderone's replacement in April.
