Former Cubs Pitcher Scott Sanderson Has Died

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Former major-league pitcher Scott Sanderson, who spent much one third of his long career with the Chicago Cubs and a season with the White Sox, has died at the age of 62 after a reported illness.

Sanderson's passing was noted on Twitter by the Los Angeles Angels, a team for which Sanderson also played, as well as the Cubs.


During a career that spanned 1978 to 1996, Sanderson's overall record was 163-143 and his ERA was 3.84, according to MLB.com. His tenure with the Cubs was from 1984 to 1989, and he also pitched 12 games for the Chicago White Sox, in 1994.
