Man Found Dead, Frozen Had Been Shot: Police

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Morton Grove Police are now investigating the death of a 30-year-old Chicago man as a homicide.

It was Sunday morning when Anthony Del Barrio's frozen body was found between houses on Oleander Avenue in Morton Grove in the northwest suburb.

"Maybe he knew somebody there and he was visiting, or he could've just pulled off the road for a reason," Morton Grove Police Investigations Cmdr. Paul Yaras said Tuesday.

"We can't yet say with any definitive answer on this one, what he was doing there."

Police believe Del Barrio parked his pickup nearby, got out and at some point was shot in the buttock.

"I think it's safe to say he was turned away from the person that shot him - or was in the process of doing so," Yaras said.

After Del Barrio was shot, police speculate he walked around the street -- his footprints were visible in the snow -- and then collapsed and died.
