(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lake County Illinois Sheriff's Office is investigating an apparent suicide at a gun range in Zion Sunday morning.
Deputies responded to a call at 5 Star Firearms on Sheridan Road around 11 a.m., and they found a 49-year-old man dead at the facility's 16-lane firing range.
The sheriff's office says surveillance video shows the man shot himself with a gun he rented from the store.
Sgt. Chris Covelli said state law requires Illinois residents have a FOID card anytime they possess a gun, but the man was from Riverdale, Georgia.
The office is looking into whether the man rented the gun legally.
5 Star Firearms has a waiver that all guests must sign that asks, among other things, if they are suicidal or depressed.
An autopsy is slated for Tuesday.
