CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --You can buy a northwest suburban home with a notorious history.
The house that was built on the former site of John Wayne Gacy's home is now for sale.
Gacy kidnapped, strangled, and killed 33 people and 29 were buried on his property, at 8213 W. Summerdale Ave. in unincorporated Norwood Park township.
The remains were recovered and the house was demolished in 1979.
A new home was built on the site in 1986, that is now for sale with an asking price of $459,000.
The 2500-square-foot house last sold in 2004 for $300,000.
Redfin touts the home as "beautiful three bedroom, two bath brick home in Maine South H.S. District. Features updated kitchen with eating area that overlooks huge backyard, separate dining room, living room and family room with beautiful two-sided fireplace. Huge second story loft can be used as a bedroom or office. Attached two-car garage and clean basement with laundry. New tear off Roof. Close to all transportation."
It leaves out that it is a link to one of the worst crimes in American history.
When Gacy's house was demolished in 1979, the address was changed from 8213 Summerdale to 8215.
