CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Gaming Board on Thursday met for the first time since Jan. 30, but the virtual gathering did not answer the million-dollar question: When will casinos reopen across the state?
Illinois casinos have been shuttered since March 16. Administrator Marcus Fruchter said any reopening date will be based on health metrics. He acknowledged the economic pain the shutdown has caused everyone in the industry.
When casinos reopen, they will be required to provide PPE and temperature checks for employees, and there will be frequent cleaning of dice and chips.
Patrons will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing.
Buffets will be off the menu.
