CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 1,828 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and five deaths Saturday, a decline from Friday that saw the highest daily case count since late May.

Of the five deaths, only one was in Cook County, which is a drop from recent death counts in the county.

The positivity rate also declined, coming in at 4.0%, whereas Friday's was 4.1%, according to health officials.

But in Chicago, the positivity rate is still higher than the state's, coming in at 5.1%, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Within the past 24 hours, the state has performed more than 44,000 coronavirus tests. As of Friday night, 1,538 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19 and of those, 330 patients were in the ICU and 127 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.

Despite the decrease in cases, Pritzker said the state is still at a breaking moment in the coronavirus fight and on Wednesday defending his new emergency business rule that will find businesses who don't comply with COVID guidelines and enforce them on their customers.

Fourteen counties are at “warning” level, IDPH said. The counties are: Bureau, Cass, Clinton, Franklin, Greene, Grundy, Hancock, Jefferson, Kane, LaSalle, Moultrie, Perry, Union and Will.

There are now 204,519 cases, including 7,726 deaths in Illinois.
