CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There’s some improvement reported in the condition of a 12-year-old, autistic Deerfield boy who was badly injured in a hit-and-run crash 10 days ago.
The family of 12-year-old Chase Thompson said the boy is no longer in critical condition at Lurie Children's Hospital. He is now conscious and breathing on his own, according to CBS 2.
On Feb. 2, Chase was somehow able to get out of his family's home on Deerfield Road, wandered into the street, and was hit by a vehicle that kept going.
Chase's dad, Thad Thompson said his son is autistic and non-verbal; and normally, cannot get out of the house on his own. He offered a $10,000 reward for information that led to the driver. He said anyone was eligible for the reward, including the driver of the vehicle.
