CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Two political observers say having a new mayor and city treasurer won’t be the only changes in Chicago’s municipal government this spring.

Three sitting aldermen lost their seats outright in Tuesday’s elections: John Arena and Joe Moore on the North Side and the 1st Ward’s Joe Moreno.

Shaw says traditionally black wards that supported Willie Wilson will be key.

Cherone notes Lori Lightfoot won solidly along the lakefront and Near North Side. If Lightfoot can hold those wards, she'll have an advantage, Cherone said.

Lightfoot faces Toni Preckwinkle in the contest to be the next mayor of Chicago.
