CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Starting this weekend, the Chicago Park District is setting up small stages in nearly a dozen parks and inviting people from the community to come and do their creative hustle.
The District will add 11 little stages around Chicago to prompt creativity and invite art into local parks. In the past, the District has added pianos for people to play and it's been a successful turnout.
Park District Chief Michael Kelly said there will also be some programming at the stages this summer, but the focus is to combine arts into the park communities through various forms.
"You can do spoken word, you can do dance, you can do Shakespeare, it's your plaform," Kelly said. "It's your message and your community."
Michael Kelly is the guest on our At Issue program this weekend. You can hear more Sunday at 9:30 a.m and 9:30 pm.
