(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Some auto analysts believe sales could dip this year.
Automakers sold more than 17 million vehicles in the U.S. last year, but some think it could come in just under that mark in 2020.
Asked who is buying cars these days, James Bell with Kia tells WBBM Newsradio: "You've got folks that are really looking to kind of upgrade with some new vehicles that are capturing technology and look and design and experience that used to be maybe at a price point that was out of their range.”
He adds: “The industry is getting a little tighter now. We're all clamoring a little bit stronger for each and every sale. So, the product is really over-delivering."
That means it’s a buyer’s market, he says.
Kia’s Telluride this week won the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.
GM has also won car of the year for the Corvette Stingray, joined by Jeep's Gladiator pick-up truck.
