CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Your favorite glazed doughnut is coming to Chicago.
Krispy Kreme announced Tuesday the opening of its first downtown Chicago location in Block 37.
The location, named The Chicago Fresh Shop, is the first of its kind in Illinois and marks the fourth of eight planned Krispy Kreme shops in the Chicagoland area.
“We are excited to expand Krispy Kreme Chicagoland into the heart of the city, and there is no better location for our first Chicago Fresh Shop than Block 37,” said Carlos Larcada, President of Chicagoland Restaurants, LLC, in a statement. “We’re ready to satisfy Krispy Kreme cravings for commuters, visitors and Chicagoans inside our new downtown location.”
The bakery-style shop is located in the Pedway level of the Block 37's high-traffic hallway (across from Starbucks), which connects to Maggie Daley Plaza, the Blue Line, and the Red Line.
According to the company, the shop will offer Krispy Kreme’s signature Original Glazed doughnuts, assorted doughnut varieties, and frozen beverages, along with store-wide limited time offerings.
To celebrate the new location, all brewed coffee will be offered at $0.90 through the end of 2019.
And if that was not exciting enough, 10 dozen (120) “Golden Tickets” will be distributed at random to customers at checkout throughout opening week from Tuesday, Oct. 22 until Sunday, Oct. 27, with winners receiving one free dozen Original Glazed doughnuts every month for a year!
Unsurprisingly, long lines were already formed outside of the shop early Tuesday morning. But igf you don't want to wait in line, online ordering will also be available via KrispyKreme.com, Grubhub and Uber Eats.
The Block 37 Krispy Kreme will be open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
