CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot released a Twitter video Sunday afternoon, touting the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Lightfoot said the ADA changed Chicago.


"This legislation granted long overdue civil rights to people with disabilities. It's essential that we continue working to fulfill the promises presented by the ADA by ensuring that our city is accessible in all aspects," Lightfoot said in the video.

The mayor also said one in 10 Chicagoans has a disability and shared she is also dealing with hearing loss.

Lightfoot also said her father suffered hearing loss through an illness.
