Lightfoot Wants Department Heads To End Excessive Absenteeism

Chicago City Hall

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot is warning city department heads: Crack down on absenteeism among their workers, or else.WBBM Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports from City Hall.

Lightfoot on Tuesday said commissioners and department heads will be held accountable if too many employees do not show up for work.

What has troubled her, she said, is that some commissioners have effectively done nothing about chronic absenteeism.

"That's not acceptable," she said.
