(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Interim Police Supt. David Brown fielded hours of questioning by the Chicago City Council's Public Safety Committee Monday before his nomination was passed on to the full council.

All of the aldermen who talked with Brown were supportive of him, WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports.

Mayor Lightfoot earlier this month nominated Brown, the former police chief of Dallas, to be Chicago’s next police superintendent.

Brown was in charge of the Dallas police force in 2016 when a sniper killed five officers. He made the decision to have gunman killed by a bomb-armed robot, to avoid further loss of life.

Brown replaces interim Supt. Charlie Beck.
