CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- It's not your average salvage yard. Tucked away in Chicago's West Town neighborhood, Salvage One is an antique store, an art museum, and an event space all in one.
"Salvage One was the first salvage company in Chicago down on Sangamon. It was a five-story warehouse and moved here about 18 years ago," said Marcus Ober, Store Manager, Buyer.
Salvage One, now on Hubbard, is a 60,000-square foot, 3-story, industrial building and is home to thousands of unique items.
"It's a highly curated selection so the display of it is important," Ober said.
The first floor can also serve as a space for wedding ceremonies.
"Oh yeah, every weekend. Soon it'll be every Friday, Saturday, Sunday. We guarantee seating for up to 175 people," he said.
Ober said their clients are mostly bars and restaurants, but they also rent vintage furniture for TV and movie sets, but most of all, they cater to patrons who can appreciate the unusual.
